A Very Unusual Vacation Spot - Pripyat, Ukraine

If you are looking to go on a vacation, why not choose somewhere that is really unique and has a great story and history? A very unusual vacation spot that could still be a lot of fun is Pripyat, Ukraine.

You will have to book your trip to Pripyat, Ukraine in advance. You can’t just drive there because you will first need permission to enter the 30 kilometer “zone of exclusion” and you will need to book a special tour which will last about two to four hours.

Pripyat, Ukraine really is a ghost town and it is right in the middle of Europe. It is about seventy miles from Kiev, the capital of the country. It can provide you with a vacation experience that you will never forget. It may seem completely abandoned but that is what is amazing about it. It really is a place for the beauty of silence. This is the site of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant explosion in 1986. This was the largest and most devastating nuclear accident the world had ever seen.  There is still some radiation in the area but it is just about the amount you would get from going on a flight to any country and is no longer at dangerous levels. You will even be checked for levels of radiation before you leave. You will probably stay in Kiev and there are many beautiful places to visit, museums, theatres and hundreds of years of history to learn about.
