What you should know before traveling to New Zealand

New Zealand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It is also known as the "Paradise of the Pacific". This country is known for magnificent nature and landscapes. Because of them, many people visit, or decide to live in New Zealand. It is a small country. The size is 267.710km². It has 4.347.000 citizens. The country code is +64.

In order to go to New Zealand, you don’t need a visa. However, depending on your country, you can stay indefinitely or up to 3 months. Citizens of Australia, can live in New Zealand, without a visa. Citizens of the United Kingdom can stay in New Zealand up to 6 months. Citizens from countries that are member of the European Union, the United States and several other countries can stay up to 3 months. You should check with your embassy in order to see how long you can stay in this country.

The best way to travel to New Zealand is by plane. You may think that flights from Australia to New Zealand last just a couple of minutes, but they last 3 hours. New Zealand is far away from any other country. There are good connections between New Zealand and Australia, Tokyo and several other cities.

There are three official languages in the country. They are: English, New Zealand Sign Language and Māori. The English language used here is a bit different from official English, but if English is your native language, or you speak it fluently, you won’t have problems in communication.
The official currency is the New Zealand Dollar. Other currencies are rarely accepted.
